Nassau County Police were called about a break-in at an Inwood residence on Wahl Avenue at around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2.
When officers arrived, they found Wilber Sigaran fleeing the scene, police said.
An officer caught up to Sigaran and deployed a TASER device in order to place him under arrest.
Sigaran, of Inwood, is charged with assault and burglary. He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, Oct. 3.
